This seminar explores reader and fan engagement with comic books and comic book culture. Modes of engagement include communications through print and social media, cosplay, fanzine production, clubs, conventions, blogs, podcasts, and more. The course introduces research methods for studying this engagement, including archival research, ethnography, and text data mining.
