About

Data experts are made here

Data science is one of the fastest-growing fields in the world, and the demand for well-trained data experts has never been greater.

The Data Science Program at IU Bloomington, housed within the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, is training the next generation of data specialists: ethical professionals and creative problem solvers who know how to extract, clean, sort, and interpret data for better, more reliable decision making.

Flexible degrees for diverse career goals

Regardless of your academic or professional background, we have a degree program that’s right for you. Choose to study on campus through our residential M.S. program or learn at your own pace with our online M.S. degree. Busy professionals who need to mature their skill set quickly can also choose to earn an online data science certificate.

An interdisciplinary approach to innovation

Innovation requires unique perspectives. Diversity in gender, ethnicity, generation, and domain knowledge matters. It’s why the Data Science Program exists as an interdisciplinary collaboration between the four departments of Luddy rather than a stand-alone unit.

It’s also why our faculty come from all over the world and lead research in a variety of of areas, and our graduate students include single parents, senior executives, seasoned professionals, recent graduates, and academics.

Your distinct background isn’t just valued here; we believe it’s critical to the growth of the field of data science.
