Curriculum

Choose two core courses and two electives. You have several course selections to allow certificate customization. All courses are 100% online with no in-person requirements and we offer 8-week and 16-week courses to fit your needs.

Core courses focus on a solid foundation, core principles and technologies of AI and include Elements of AI, Usable AI or AI, Society and Culture.

Elective courses allow practical skills focused on specialization and include Computer Vision, Deep Learning Systems, Applied Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning for Bioinformatics, Advanced Information Ethics, Machine Learning for Signal Processing, and others.

Requirements

Certificate requirements

The AI graduate certificate requires completion of four courses totaling 12 credit hours. You can do this in as little as one semester or up to two years.

Admissions requirements

While a background in computer science, mathematics, engineering, informatics, or other science disciplines is ideal, we embrace all academic and professional backgrounds. Some experience or working knowledge of programming languages such as Python and R preferred, as well as understanding of mathematical principles (linear algebra, calculus, probability, statistics, or discrete math). Applicants without programming or mathematical backgrounds are encouraged to communicate with an admissions manager about eligibility.

Applicants must have:

  • earned a 4-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • received a 3.0 cumulative GPA from all attended institutions
